A Thought About Hillary

I was keeping up on the coverage over the last few days and I noted the stories about Hillary stumping (possibly reluctantly?) for Obama.  I read that Hillary won't go on a personal attack against Governor Palin but she does plan on attacking her issues.  Fair enough.

I confess, however, that I am somewhat amazed that Mrs. Clinton is willing to campaign for a man who only a few short weeks ago was her arch enemy.  Unlike some of my more "ardent" Republican friends, I do think that Hillary was treated unfairly by Obama's campaign and his surrogates.  I followed the debates during the dems' primary and you could cut the tension between O and Hill with a knife!

That said, let me propose an alternative for Mrs. Clinton: endorse McCain and Palin.

DON'T SEND DEATH THREATS!!!! Hear me out.

I truly beleive that Hillary was hurt on a personal level by the lack (real or imagined) of support that she recieved from her party.  I also believe that Hillary does not trust Obama as the next Commander-in-Chief.  There seemed to be a certain steely, "eat sh*t and DIE!" look in her eyes whenever Obama made disparaging comments about Hillary's record.  Maybe I'm wrong.  And how many of us really believe the pleas for "unity" and "coming together within the democratic party" we heard from Bill and Hillary from Denver?

If the animousity was genuine, however, then I think an endorsment of the GOP ticket could be a very wise move for Senator Clinton.

Let me exlpain:

Hillary has many issues on which she does not agree with Sarah (abortion being the BIGGIE), but if she (Hillary) could articulate that right now, at this point in our country's history, it is more important to heal the fracture between the right and the left than to endlessly argue over political differences then it would mesh very nicely with McCain's call for "real change" in Washington.

Mrs. Clinton can also try to form a united effort by her female followers to make a stand against the still-present sexism in national politics.  Hillary could, with this endorsment, tell every Quin, Gutman and Brown (of the CNN, Campbell variety) that this "non-existent" double standard towards female candidates, and professional women in general, is unacceptable.  In other words, let's go ahead and smash that ceiling.

I'm sure that many people would say, "That would be POLITICAL SUICIDE!!" and "The GOP would rebel against McTRAITOR!!".  Maybe.  Maybe not.

McCain has already stated that he plans on bringing Democrats on board to his cabinet if (when!) he is elected.  A prominent position on McCain's cabinet for Hillary would be a fitting "reward" for supporting John's ticket.  It would show that McCain and Hillary are "serious" about changing the way politics are done in DC.  And, most importantly, it would go a long way toward establishing Clinton's bonafides with the less conservative, more moderate Republican base (females AND males).  From what I know about Hillary's record, she tends to be a bit more conservative than her Democratic ilk, especially on foreign policy.

On a purely partisan note, I would love to see Hillary endorse McCain/Palin for the simple fact that it would GUT PUNCH Obama and Biden.  They wouldn't know what to do!  The breakdown at the dem's campaign we've witnessed over the last week or so, thanks to Hurrican Sarah, would be like a speed bump compared to the train wreck that would follow.

I can't help but remember how Obamites came out and decried McCain for the "cynical" choice of Governor Palin for the Vice President pick.  How they felt that it was a "political stunt" and that Palin was "a joke".  Well, what the HELL do you call putting Hillary out on the trail for the ONE?  If this isn't an example of political prostitution and pandering for votes then I don't know what is!

I may be WAY off base with this. To be fair, I just got finished mowing my lawn and I think that I may be suffering from heat stroke. But, you got to admit; It's definitely an intriguing idea.

What do you think?
